We need to tear it up with topics that make people irk in their seats. In these times, complacency has become king. Throughout “Religion”, the “preachin” needs to stop and The Teaching (everything should be taught from the Message Bible; best interpretation) needs to start. The Word is clear on so many of the issues that this nation is facing right now.
Pray for our leaders, that they continually hear AND listen to the Voice of Truth. Heck, become one of those leaders and show ‘em how He would have it done.
Just my two cents.

Not sure I completely understand “porn-again”…but:
How about a Church that is controvertial in it’s unwavering pursuit of truth. In a culture where “come as you are and don’t change unless you want to” is the distgusting norm, could it be increasingly controvertial to be known for a”no bull mentality”? To be interested in condition over comfort? “Because I love you, I’ll tell you what you don’t want to but need to hear”?

It’s always struck me as sad that in a bar you can talk about anything but in church groups there is a vast array of untouchable topics. I once witnessed an AA meeting on the beach. As I was eavesdropping on their conversations I thought to myself “…This is what church should be like.” These were men who were not afraid to talk about things that they struggled with in their life in an atmosphere of safety. They seemed to realize they were all flawed individuals and that was OK.
In almost every church group I have seen, people would never be able to talk freely for fear of admitting to things that would be looked down upon by the group. The church as a whole is desperately afraid of sin. It seems one primary function of the church is to keep people from sinning. Fact is, people sin constantly anyway. They just live in bondage to it because they can’t admit it. I think in this regard the church (with some exceptions) has failed miserably.

how about a church where people are provoked to live holy and not hide their sins… provoked by love… the love of God. He is holy and to want to become like him will make us strive to live holy lives. where the Spirit of the Lord is there is no place for sin to survive. People will fall on their faces and repent and learn to hate evil and not allow it to control any part of our lives.

I don’t realy know what you mean by “porn again” but I do see that as Israel we the church have prostituted ourselves with the world and have grown insensitive to the the wooings of the Holy Spirit of God. I, like the Apostle Paul have found myself wanting to do the good and trip, but we as a church have delibrately continued in the wrong and falling back on what we call the “grace” of God. Our mind and hearts are seered knowing with our minds that waht we do is wrong yet because we no longer feel the pull of the Spirit, we continue doing what we know in our hearts is wrong. We have become a church with iching ears, just hearing what we want to hear. In answer to your question,I think we NEED the Word, bold and raw, the way Jesus did. We need to grow up. We can’t just talk about Christ without also talking about His shed blood. That to me is love.

The short answer is simple: I believe the “church” needs to return to teaching the basics of “Christianity.” If most Christians were to be honest, I think the majority would admit that the “church” has lost credibility in the world, and I might add, with many “believers” as well.
There has been far too much expansive teaching on things that Jesus never majored on his teachings. The “prosperity message” for example, has been one of the most frequented topics of indoctrination inside of these so-called Word-Churches. The fact of the matter is quite simple – and I beg anyone to challenge me on this from a theological standpoint – Jesus Christ did very little teaching on the subject of “prosperity.” And, there is no correlation between what Christ taught as “sowing” compared to what these “faith-guys” are preaching.
Trying to convince Christians year after year that believing God for a nice car, a big home, etc, etc, is non-sense and it is a slap in the face to the mission of Christ. Whatever happened to, “seeking first the Kingdom of God?” Somehow I believe Jesus’ first priority for the “believer” is teaching the body to be most like Him, so that we can win souls.
Drug-dealers drive nice cars, and so do pimps; does that mean I want them to teach me on prosperity?
When you have Pastors and leaders falling from the pulpit every time you turn around, and Mega churches shrinking all over the country, one can’t help but wonder: were they really teaching the doctrine of Jesus Christ all of those years?
The church should be teaching its congregants about how to become more Christ-like, period. So what…you drive a nice car and you’re in perfect health; if you can walk past a homeless person without DOING something to change their world, how are you being a Christ-follower?
If you wear a nice watch, but more than half of your congregation are struggling, unable to make ends meet, how is that a good representation of someone who follows Christ?
“That” kind of Christianity is a joke.
Christianity can be summed up in one word: sacrifice. Somehow, I think all of these clowns boasting “assets,” which they gained through the “faithful” giver – not of the work of their own hands – is complete and total hypocrisy. Show me a minister or a Christian with very little – because they’ve learned that Christ was rich through his suffering – and I’ll show you a Christian who knows the heart of God.
Here’s a controversial subject for you: stop looking to judge the world on what’s right and wrong, and correct the self-indulgent-self-gaining lifestyle that is taught inside of most churches.
How much do you have “saved up” and “put away” for a rainy day? How much asset do you sit on, believing that has some long-term gain attached to it? Jesus put it all on the line – - – no wait – - – Jesus put it all on the line AFTER He left His heavenly domain – only to put it all on the line.
